Assistance to Other Fund Raising Groups

In addition to our own fund raising efforts, we also donate our time to assisting other fund raising groups. Here are a selection of those events.

The Herald Festival of Transport

Sir Ray Tindle leads the cavalcade in his 1904 Speedwell DogcartThe format for the day is that Pre 1925, Pre-war and classic vehicles converge on and are parked, at the Frimley Park Hospital, in their claissfied groups. Pre 1925 and pre-war vehicles are parked in age of manufacture sequence.

Classic post war cars, vans, military vehicles, buses, coaches and motorcycles are parked in seperate groups. After a couple of hours during which time spectators have the chance for close inspection, the vehicles depart, as a Cavalcade, in pre determined sequence and timed intervals to Farnham where they are judged. The number of entries has been increasing and in 2009 reached just under 200. It is the task of Frimley & Camberley Lions to organise the parking and send off as desribed, a no mean feat.

In the beginning members of the Laryngectomy Club organised the event but this has since been taken over by the Farnham Herald. Monies raised is normally donated to the Ears, Nose and Throat Department at Frimley Park Hospital and to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

Frimley Park Hospital 10k Fund Run

Frimley Park HospitalEach year staff at the Hospital organise this event to raise money for vital equipment.

Members of Frimley & Camberley Lions Club help by donating their time as Course Marshals. This is a truly worthwhile cause and one which are more than glad to be able to help with.
